Dr Myriounis joined Sheffield Hallam University in September 2009 as an associate lecturer, and in March 2010 he was appointed lecturer in the Department of Mechanical/Materials Engineering.
Dimitrios was awarded his BSc (Hons) and MSc from Sheffield Hallam University. For his work on the role of segregation and precipitates on interfacial strengthening mechanisms in Al-SiCp MMCs he received a joint PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Ioannina (Ioannina, Greece) and Sheffield Hallam University (MERI, UK).
He has produced several journal and conference publications in the field of metal matrix composites, fracture mechanics, interfaces and interphases, thermo mechanical and microstructural characterisation of materials as well as destructive and non destructive testing.
He has been awarded international prizes and awards for his research work. Dr Myriounis is a reviewer of scientific journals in the field of fracture mechanics and composite interfaces. He is also participating in the consultancy and research activities in MERI.
