1) Formulation of sol-gel coatings / functional materials;

2) Synthesis of organic-inorganic composite/hybrid films and materials;

3) Coatings / materials produced by chemical vapour deposition;

4) Functional coatings / materials for applications in energy, optics, electronics, and biology;

5) Characterisation of materials by XPS, SEM, TEM, XRD, electrochemical analysis etc.

6) New-sol-gel-coatings-fight-corrosion-and-improve-environmental-friendliness

1) Novel photochemical materials to produce bio-energy;

2) Low-cost organic-inorganic solar devices;

3) Novel antifouling sol gel coatings;

4) Water-based sol-gel derived 'superfast' cure Cr-free pretreatment-primers;

5) Sol-gel Cr-free 'self-healing' anticorrosion coatings for Al, Mg, and other alloys;

6) Sol-gel coatings for food package;

7) Sol-gel composite adhesives;

8) Sol-gel biosensors by immobilisation of bio-molecules
