Dr Hongwei Zhang joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2007. Currently he is a Principal Lecturer in Control Systems and the Subject Group Leader of the Automation and Operations Group. Before joining Sheffield Hallam, Hongwei worked as a Research Associate at The University of Manchester (2001-2003) and then a Lecturer in Control Engineering at North East Wales Institute, University of Wales (2003-2006).
Research interests
In addition to carrying out his teaching and managing duties, Hongwei is a keen researcher in the field of advanced control and condition monitoring of chemical and biological processes, multivariate statistic process control, model predictive control and artificial intelligence.
Hongwei has over 30 refereed papers published and has contributed to one book, and has been serving as a referee for many international journals and publishers. His research has benefited from significant input from industry and has attracted funding and support from government and companies in the UK and China for several projects.
