Fees and funding
MERI PhD/MPhil fees/year for the academic year. The academic year runs from 1 August until 31 July.
For MPhil and PhD 2011/12

PhD by confirmation - full time writing up (year 4) £500
PhD by confirmation - part time writing up (years 6 and 7) £250
MPhil and PhD Direct students do not qualify for a writing up year(s) with a reduced fee.
A typical UK Research Council studentship, for UK citizens, pays home fees (see above) and a maintenance grant which is currently £13,290 per year. CASE studentships are linked with industrial partners and include an up-lift to the maintenance grant.
From time to time we may be able to offer funded research opportunities, and will publicise these in the opportunities section if/when they arise.

If you're interested in applying to pursue a research degree at MERI, please visit our research centre websites to find the area of expertise most closely aligned to your interests.
Once you have found the area that you wish to pursue research in please complete an application form.
The university operates a three point enrolment system. You will be advised, when you apply, as to which entry point you will be enrolling at. These are: January, May or September
