My predominant areas of interest lie within psychopathology; I have a background in neuropsychology and firmly believe that studying impairments stemming from atypical development and/or acquired injury can give a tremendous insight into the workings of intact structures and processes.

Currently I am working on a functional imaging (fMRI) project investigating the neural correlates of therapeutic processes linked with the treatment of conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Along with colleagues I am also developing an imaging study that will investigate the perception of proximal and distal perceptions of threat.

Research collaborations

I collaborate with colleagues at different Universities on several different projects. These include

  • 5-HT in impulsivity, reward sensitivity and empathy in those with ASPD (University of Manchester, UK)
  • Processing of emotionally-salient stimuli in violent patients with Schizophrenia (Monash University, Aus)
  • Personality and taste preferences (Charles Sturt University, Aus)
  • EMDR treatment of patients with PTSD (Argyll, UK)
