Welcome to the Sport Industry Research Centre
The Sport Industry Research Centre (SIRC) is one of three sport-related research centres in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing along with the Centre for Sport and Exercise Science (CSES) and the Centre for Sports Engineering Research (CSER).
The main focus of the centre's work is the use of applied economic techniques to solve the specific research requirements of our clients and to generate new knowledge about the sport and leisure industries. In the last year, SIRC has completed research assignments for all four home nation Sports Councils as well as for UK Sport.
The research and consultancy programme in which our staff are active is divided into these core themes
- the economics of sport
- sports participation
- major events and festivals
- elite sport
- volunteering
- performance management
In addition to research and consultancy work, SIRC is also an environment in which postgraduate students from home and abroad can study under the supervision of leading academics on the centre's core themes of activity.
For any queries relating to SIRC and its work, please don't hesitate to contact us.
