Major events
SIRC's study of the economic impact of the European football championship Euro '96 provided the impetus for much of our current work evaluating the economic impact of major sports and cultural events.
We have conducted the majority of UK Sport's research into the economic impact of major sports events and the key lessons are summarised in the publications 'Measuring Success' and Measuring Success II. We also work for a range of other clients, notably Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) as well as commercial clients such as the Tour of Britain and World Snooker, and most recently the All England Lawn Tennis Club who commissioned an economic impact study of the 2006 Wimbledon Championships.
We have also developed other event-related products including
- pre-event forecasting
- media monitoring
- analysing place marketing
- sports development effects
We have also conducted event evaluation work with arts organisations such as Arts Council England, Music in the Round and the Eastern Orchestral Board.
