Research and business
Business, public, and voluntary sector organisations can all get involved in research at Sheffield Hallam.
This could involve
- provide gaining an objective independent view on an established problem
- using us as a source of new ideas or simply
- accessing to specialist expertise and equipment
Our researchers at Sheffield Hallam are involved in a range of activities, including
- curiosity driven/fundamental research - where ideas are generated by the researchers' curiosity and are aimed at advancing knowledge
- applied research - which is focused on addressing a real world problem, meeting social and/or industrial needs
- consultancy - which gives access to expert advice and specialist services, including the use of equipment
Curiosity driven research often results in a range of novel new applications and solutions previously not thought of, although the timescale is longer than that for applied research.
