Rob's career started in the early 1980s as a commercial valuation and development surveyor. He obtained a degree in urban studies in 1988.
Between then and 2005, he worked in local authority and registered social landlors (RSL) housing management, and taught professional and academic housing courses at a variety of organisations in London.
