Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies
Czech Technical University in Prague
The Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies in Prague was founded in 1991 as an autonomous educational institute of the Czech Technical University.
The Institute focuses on lifelong learning, offering postgraduate programmes designed for part-time students combining work and study. Most of its activities are aimed at graduates from Czech and foreign universities.
The programmes are inter-disciplinary in character, with the main emphasis on management studies.
The Institute works in close collaboration with CTU faculties, with foreign universities, industrial companies, and state management institutions as well as with top foreign and Czech experts.
Cooperation between Sheffield Hallam University and the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies (MIAS) began in 1991, when MIAS and Sheffield Hallam jointly opened an MBA programme, one of the first MBA programmes in Czech Republic after the Velvet revolution in 1989. Since then over 400 graduates have passed the programme. Among them are numerous personalities from the Czech political, economic and entrepreneurial scene.
In 1998, Sheffield Hallam and MIAS jointly opened a MSc. in Strategic Human Resource Management programme – the only MSc. programme focusing on human resources management in Czech Republic. Until now, the programme has over 30 graduates
