Personal profile

My main teaching experience lies in organization development, consultancy, and the management of change working primarily with postgraduate students and my research interests are in the areas of culture and the development of management as a profession. In my previous role of Head of the Graduate Centre and Research I have been responsible not only for the development of the PhD and DBA programmes but also for the internationalisation of the DBA through the DBA (International) with the Business School Netherlands (for which I remain as course leader) and the current development of the DBA (Europe) with the Munich Business School. I was responsible for the development of the Research Assessment Exercise for Business and Management in 2001 and 2008 and have more recently been responsible for the Research Excellence Framework submission for 2014. I have also been responsible for the new edition of our text (with Joanne Duberley and Phil Johnson) 'Organization Theory: Challenges and Perspectives' published by Pearson. In my current role as Emeritus Professor I continue to make a contribution to teaching and mentoring of colleagues both through individual contact and as one of the tutors on the university's 'Research Supervisor Development Programme'.
