Centre for Tourism, Hospitality and Events Research

The Centre for Tourism, Hospitality and Events Research was newly established in 2009 with the launch of Sheffield Business School. The University has been engaged in hospitality and tourism research, consultancy and related activities for over 30 years and has an international reputation. The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirmed the University as one of the premier centres for research in tourism and hospitality.

This centre has evolved from the previously known Centre for International Hospitality Management Research (CIHMR) and the Centre for International Tourism Research (CITouR). The addition of events reflects both the sector's growth and our growing expertise in this field. The result is the creation of one of the largest university research organisations of its kind in the UK working in the international hospitality, tourism and events fields.

The centre specialises in • tourism • events and applied hospitality management research • management and executive development work • consultancy • academic and other publications for a range of international, national and regional private and public sector clients • the supervision of PhD and other doctoral students.

The following projects and activities illustrate the work of the centre.
