The Event Management Hub at Sheffield Business School

The Event Management Hub provides inspiration, ideas and resources to a wide range of event practitioners from across South Yorkshire and beyond. The hub is a free-to-access community that holds regular events and also provides an online space where resources and ideas can be shared. It aims to support the development of event practitioners, and enhance the success of events.

The hub initiative came about after event managers reflected that they don't have enough time to be strategic, to evaluate their events, and - importantly - to focus on their own development. The idea was to create an informal and friendly community where event practitioners can come together to share experiences and ideas and to learn from others. Hub events are designed to be highly participative, and give attendees a forum to share their particular questions and frustrations.

The hub is part of Sheffield Business School - one of the largest event educators in the UK - and is supported by a wealth of event management expertise. Combining this with the countless years of experience that practitioners bring, the hub provides a very healthy environment in which to learn and develop. Although the hub is not primarily a networking initiative, it does provide practitioners with space to make connections that are of real benefit.

Sheffield Business School is delighted to be at the heart of the Event Management Hub, which is facilitated by Phil Crowther, a senior lecturer in event management.
