Profile

Alisha is part of the hospitality team at where she teaches in the areas of innovation, technology, service excellence, leadership and hospitality operations. She is also the academic support placement officer for the undergraduate students in hospitality. She has been actively involved in the hospitality and tourism industry for over 15 years.

Alisha holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Tourism Management and a Masters Degree in Management and her PhD focused on investigating the applications of ICT for the sustainable tourism development of destinations. She also has international teaching experience having taught in the Caribbean, Switzerland and Dubai. In addition to academic activities, Alisha has worked both locally, regionally and internationally in the hospitality field.

Some of her career highlights includes conducting market research and analysis of world-wide trends in the hospitality industry, developing feasibility studies for industry stakeholders and working on 'live' tourism plans and projects and participating in their implementation. Alisha is an External Examiner at Colchester Institute, past Board Member of the International Federation of IT and Travel and Tourism (IFITT) and member of the Hospitality Information Technology Association (HITA) and The Tourism Society.

Research interests

Computer-mediated sustainability, ICT and its applications and implications for hospitality, innovative strategies for the hospitality industry.
