Fides manages the Higher Education Facilities Management Network, developing relationships with key people and understanding the major issues facing the sector concerned and the Facilities Managers within it. She designs and facilitates the Network programmes and workshops, and works on research projects such as stakeholder perceptions, benchmarking facilities, managers' perceptions, scenario planning, space utilisation, and timetabling and room-booking issues. She is also the list owner and moderator of the Network's discussion list, HE-FM-Net.
Fides also contributes to various other activities within the Centre, such as teaching on an MBA module. She represents the Centre in practitioner fora such as BIFM, where she worked on the BIFM's CPD sub-committee to develop a new CPD strategy, and, as a steering group member of the Education Sector Forum, helped to provide networking opportunities for members within the sector.
Fides has a varied background in management learning, linguistics and education. Bilingual in English and German, she works to cross the boundaries of conventional thinking patterns.
Special interests include experiential learning, management development and organisational learning and change, with an emphasis on relationship management and communication issues. She is also currently developing a workshop on leadership skills and dance.
