Food analysis, microbiology in food production, nutrition and chronic disease

Nutrition, pollution and other environmental factors affect the ways diseases develop, as do genetic factors. Research can increase our understanding of how food choices can damage our health or improve our ability to recover from infections and disease.

We've a wide range of expertise, especially in bioanalysis, with major strengths in microbiology and bioremediation. We offer many highly specialised research services. We also offer a wide range of microbiology testing services to industry.

These include facilities to

  • analyse trace nutritional elements, such as zinc and selenium
  • analyse beneficial food components, such as omega-3 fatty acids
  • develop pro-biotic food products
  • isolate and identify contaminating micro-organisms
  • bio-catalyse and bio-remediate food industry bi-products
  • assess pesticide penetration into fruit and vegetables
  • use micro-organisms to dispose of waste foods
  • conduct shelf life assessments
  • modify atmosphere packaging

With our proven scientific expertise, extensive facilities and quality delivery, we offer strong commercial services. Projects may be as simple as rapid-turn-around analysis, or as substantial as collaborating in long-term development.
