Use of novel and natural ingredients
The centre has worked on a range of projects to provide innovative product solutions using novel and natural ingredients.
For example, our researchers have been working with Seagreens® to develop the use of seaweed granules as an alternative to salt (sodium chloride) in processed food. Similarly, research has been carried out into omega-3 rich foods, particularly from vegetable sources, and the effects of baking and processing.
Research has led to client cost savings, enhanced customer/product perceptions and new innovative products and product ranges.
