This is a unique new part-time course which has been developed in response to the needs of the food and drink sector. Our Centre for Food Innovation has created a development programme which focuses on supporting your competitive advantage through innovation.

This course looks at innovation from a product, people, process and packaging perspective. The positive impact from this sector-focussed training will be felt by both the individuals on the course, and the companies they work for.

Who is the course for?

This course has been specially designed for people working in the food and drink sector. It is particularly appropriate for managers working in product development, innovation, production and operations. You need to be educated to degree level or have equivalent work-based experience.

Attendance

You attend 11 days of formal study workshops, delivered in one block of three days and four blocks of two days each. There is also a project presentation and feedback day. In addition you will be required to carry out independent study to support your learning.

The course will be run in 2011 and lasts for 14 months.

As an innovative course geared around developing your career, the programme focuses on non-traditional methods of assessment which are more relevant to your role. These include your portfolio of work, presentations and project activities, which may be jointly assessed by University staff and your employer.

This course was developed following feedback from companies at the Food and Drink Skills Summit we hosted in conjunction with the National Skills Academy Food and Drink Manufacturing.
