The Centre for Individual and Organisational Development (CIOD) brings together the academic and professional expertise of over 80 staff. Our research, evaluative studies and knowledge transfer interventions are focused on developing collaborative learning partnerships which
- help organisations achieve enhanced performance through improved competitiveness and market effectiveness
- help individuals and organisational teams fulfil their potential by developing capability, competence and confidence
- help groups to make positive change in organisational and management behaviours by understanding the connections and synergies
- use our skills in organisational development and intra- and inter-organisational relationships to help individuals and organisations grow and develop
- use innovative learning and action research techniques to help organisations identify problems and generate innovative solutions
We offer a seamless service of applied research, consultancy and bespoke packages of career and professional development to a broad variety of organisations and stakeholders.

CIOD has an integral part in major collaborative projects, working with four other research centres to provide multi-disciplinary innovative solutions for organisations through the Innovation Futures project, and with the University of Sheffield to provide leadership and management development through the Innovation Leaders project.
The centre contributes to continuing professional development though its links with postgraduate teaching, the Innovation Leaders project, and support for our growing number of PhD and DBA students working on a wide range of business and management issues.
