Postgraduate study

The Centre for Individual and Organisational Development is very closely connected with postgraduate study, which contributes to continuing professional development, and has the following courses available.

PhD/MPhil courses
The Centre plays an important part in the development of Sheffield Business School's doctoral programmes. This includes part-time and full-time provision of the PhD programme and the Doctorate in Business Administration.

Doctorate in Business Administration
This DBA focuses on organisation and management and allows you to make a difference to the way that management and professional practice is developed. The programme is designed for those who are enthusiastic about learning, and want the opportunity to become a recognised contributor to management thinking and advanced professional practice.

MSc Charity Resource Management
This is a unique programme for senior staff in charities combining the issues of charity fundraising and development and financial and human resource management.

MSC/ PGDip/ PGCert Organisation Development and Consultancy
This course is designed to meet the needs of professional change agents, managers and internal and external consultants wanting to be at the forefront of change processes at individual, group and organisational levels.

MSc Human Resource Management
This course is for graduates wishing to develop and broaden their skills, knowledge and understanding of HR management and development. It also provides a route for organisations wishing to develop their staff through exposure to key issues, ideas and techniques.

MSc International Human Resource Management
This course is linked to the above programme MSc in HRM and is aimed at graduates working in global organisations and from outside the UK interested in following a more globally-facing route. Learners will gain a thorough grounding in the contemporary UK HR scene and then specialise in global aspects for part of the programme. The assessment for this course is 100 per cent coursework and does not lead to CIPD qualified status.

MSc Human Resource Leadership
This course provides a structured and developmental experience combining academic rigour, intellectual challenge and professional development. It is taught by academics with practical business and consulting experience and provides a range of business contexts in which to test and apply theoretical knowledge.

MSc/PGDip/PGCert Coaching and Mentoring
This course is for specialists devoting much of their time to coaching and mentoring including scheme designers and evaluators, independent consultants or senior managers interested in developing their skills or those of their employees.

MSc Total Quality Management and Organisational Excellence (by distance learning)
This course is for practising professional managers who wish to develop their career in the important area of total quality management and organisational excellence and is suitable for a wide range of applicants with flexible delivery methods that enable you fit your study around your life.

MSc/PgDip/PgCert International Marketing
The Faculty has a tradition of international marketing delivered by tutors with different areas of expertise. This allows students to be prepared for any market place. Our MSc in International Marketing provides an ideal base from which to develop a career in international marketing. It can contribute towards the Chartered Institute of Marketing's 'Chartered Marketer' status.
