Profile

Isobel took up the role of Assistant Dean (Planning and Resources and Head of Postgraduate) within the Sheffeld Business School in June 2009. Prior to this she was seconded to the appointment of Assistant Dean of Research and Knowledge Transfer for 10 months and also held the role of head of the Centre for Business and Management. Her research specialism continues to be in the area of SME international competitiveness.

Isobel is professor of international marketing at Sheffield Hallam University and visiting professor at Audencia Ecole de Management, Nantes, France. She is an experienced marketing professional, researcher and senior academic in the field of international marketing, international competitiveness of small firms and strategic marketing decision making. Together with her co-author Robin Lowe she has built an international reputation through the highly successful textbooks 'Strategic Marketing Decisions and International Marketing Strategy'. The latter is now in its fifth edition (2008) and has sold over 70,000 copies across the globe.

She is a senior examiner for the Chartered Institute of Marketing and, has acted as an expert advisor on a number of governmental committees at a regional and national level.

Isobel was the principal architect of a long term research programme geared towards improving the capabilities of firms to compete internationally. The outputs of this research are now being used across the public and private sector in the UK and internationally. These outputs now form the basis of her ongoing research, publications and consultancy work.
