Profile
John Darwin has had previous careers in community action and in Local Government (with Newcastle City Council and Sheffield City Council, the latter as director of employment and economic development).
He is the author of a number of works on strategy, change, economic development and local government. He teaches on a range of postgraduate and doctoral programmes, in the UK, Ireland and Czech Republic.
Research interests
- strategic alliances, partnerships and collective strategy
- the role of spirituality in the workplace
- the relationship of philosophy of science to management methodology
- new approaches to management, strategic change and organisation development drawing on complexity theory, non-western philosophy and fuzzy logic
- integral thinking, truth and change (alethic pluralism)

Research and consultancy projects
Consultancy and executive development work has included engagements with many local authorities, including work with IDeA, as well as private and community organisations, and with health organisations. The latter has included two substantial projects (with Professor Jim Bryant) involving the use of whole systems events and drama theory to explore primary care trusts and clinical governance.
