Steve is a research fellow in the Centre for Business and Management, Sheffield Business School. He is vice-chair of the 'Governance' working group for the European Science Foundation COST Action: TU0902 'Integrated Assessment for the Sustainable Development of Urban Areas'.
He has practice-based experience of geo-demographic and sustainability research and policy analysis whilst working previously as a researcher for the Chief Executive's Directorate at Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC). His doctoral research, undertaken in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Sheffield, focused on Action Research projects with RMBC and Sheffield City Council exploring urban landscape character and 'place' in policy and practice.
Steve also taught geographic information systems (GIS), computer-aided design (CAD) and landscape recording methods for nine years at the University of York and is an academic member of the Landscape Institute. Steve is also an editorial board member of 'The Historic Environment: Policy and Practice.'
