IT services
IT is a vitally important part of student life. That's why we invest in our facilities to make sure you have the resources - and technical support - you need.
Our IT facilities
We invest £5 million a year in our IT facilities to make sure your study is fully supported. It means you can

- use our Wi-Fi to connect your own device to the University network and the internet in all our buildings
- borrow a Wi-Fi laptop from the learning centres
- borrow a wide range of equipment to take pictures, record sound, make videos and edit your work using industry-standard tools
- use our extensive assistive technology resources
- work in learning spaces and open-access PC rooms, whether you want group meetings or quiet individual study
- use our online learning environment, shuspace, to access your learning resources and work with other students wherever you are
- access your personal file store and student email account from any browser
- access shuspace, email, timetables, campus maps and a range of other services on the move with our free smartphone app SHUgo
- use a range of specialist IT facilities to support specific areas of study including video and sound edit suites and games labs
- print your work and articles in black and white or colour, or use our specialist plotting and photo printing services
- use our online virtual classrooms for classes when learning at a distance
