Disability Co-ordinators
The University has three campuses spread across the city. Although it is sometimes difficult to ensure that students have a contact close to hand, each Faculty and a number of Departments do have a designated member of staff to undertake the role of disability co-ordinator. The co-ordinators meet regularly and work together to develop an effective service for disabled students
The role of the co-ordinator is to:
- act as a general contact and referral point for staff and students
- act as a link between the Faculty and the Disabled Student Support Team
- act as the first point of contact for students and staff for advice and information
- especially in relation to Learning Contracts and their recommendations.
- publicise and communicate disability issues
- positively promote the principles of an inclusive University environment for Disabled students
Students are made aware of the relevant Disability Co-ordinator during the induction period and are encouraged to discuss with them any immediate problems.
