Food

The cost of the morning and afternoon snack is included in the fees. The midday meal is £2.40. You may choose to bring a packed lunch.

A girl eating her foodWe do not supply breakfast, but are happy for you to bring breakfast for your child to eat at nursery. Morning snack is a drink of milk or water with a plain biscuit and piece of fruit. See our food policy.

Lunch is on a four week menu cycle (DOC, 15KB). You will be asked to choose meals for your child in advance. There is always a vegetarian choice available and other meals can be provided.

Packed lunches need to be of good nutritional value including a choice of foods. The Nursery will provide water and crockery. Children eat their meals together in their own groups and lunchtime is usually a quiet social occasion.

The afternoon snack is more substantial and varied than the morning one, and children are given opportunities to prepare their own food where appropriate. Drinking water is available at all times and the nursery encourages children to drink either milk or water. We do not allow other drinks to be brought in to the nursery.

Special dietary requirements

If your child has any special dietary requirements, you need to let us know well before he or she attends, so that we can plan a suitable menu.

We will also need to know details of any food allergies. If your child develops any food allergies or intolerance during their time at Nursery, please inform our office so that a plan can be prepared.

We can feed babies according to individual needsOur youngest children are aged six months and have individual feeding patterns and requirements. We can either prepare food from the normal menu, or provide jars of food. The nursery staff will discuss the child's needs with you at your first visit. Babies' food will be adapted gradually until they are ready to eat the normal nursery menu.

Feeding bottles
We do not make up bottles or supply milk feeds for children. If your baby is having bottle feeds, you will need to supply these made up.
