Don Valley Stadium is an international athletics venue offering world class sporting facilities
The £29m athletics stadium is the second largest in the country and was the first national outdoor sporting venue to be built since the original Wembley Stadium in 1923.
Completed in 1990 as part of Sheffield's preparations to host the 1991 World Student Games, Don Valley Stadium has hosted many sporting events from British Grand Prix athletics to the Sheffield Half Marathon, as well as the BUCS Championships which our Team Sheffield Hallam athletes compete in. It's also the venue for the annual varsity rugby league game between Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield.
Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis MBE got her start here, having started training with the City of Sheffield Athletic Club aged 13. But you don't have to be an elite athlete to use the stadium – the facilities are open for everyone to enjoy for recreation and training.
Don Valley Stadium offers indoor and outdoor athletics facilities and training, gym membership (through Fitness Unlimited), fitness classes and professional sports coaching for all ages. Whether you want to compete or spectate, there's something for you here.
