Whether it is drama, dance, comedy or music
you're looking for, the Lyceum Theatre can provide it
Built in 1897, The Lyceum is Sheffield's oldest theatre and the only surviving venue outside of London designed by the famous theatre architect W G R Sprague. Built to a traditional proscenium arch design, the Edwardian auditorium is set on three levels and offers a superb, clear view of the stage from every part of the house.
The Lyceum was awarded Grade II listed status in 1972 and following a £12m refurbishment in the late 1980s, became Sheffield Theatres' main receiving venue for touring productions. It presents a variety of theatre including West End shows, opera, ballet and contemporary dance, as well as Sheffield Theatres' own work.
The Lyceum is also the home of Sheffield's annual Christmas pantomime, a tradition which began in the 1940s and which remains popular to this day.
