Performance Athlete Support Programme - fulfil your sporting potential
At Sheffield Hallam University we're committed to supporting sporting excellence amongst our students.
Our Performance Athlete Support Programme is designed to support talented student athletes, allowing you to balance your university life and achieve your sporting potential.
The programme offers support and scholarships if you're a full-time or part-time student here and you're currently competing at the top level of your sport. It operates alongside the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) and World Class Programme (WPC) initiatives operated by national governing bodies.
Why apply?
If you're awarded a performance athlete scholarship you receive financial assistance (up to a maximum of £6,000) each year to help with costs such as course fees, accommodation fees, sport science support and competition expenses.
All athletes accepted onto the performance athlete programme receive a comprehensive support package including
- unlimited access to all our sport and fitness facilities and programmes, including access to our state-of-the-art strength and conditioning suite
- free physiotherapy through our Universal Wellbeing clinic
- access to performance athlete workshops focusing on sporting lifestyle, sports psychology and sports nutrition
- a Performance Athlete squad kit
- financial assistance towards the cost of competing in appropriate British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions
- a commitment to our academic flexibility policy, ensuring you can compete in key sporting events

To be eligible for the Performance Athlete Support Programme, you must
- be enrolled on a current undergraduate or postgraduate study course, either part time or fulltime, at Sheffield Hallam University
- be competing at junior or senior international level in your sport or discipline
To be considered for 2012-13 squad selection, you must complete and submit an application form by 5 October 2012.
To be considered for 2013-14 performance athlete scholarships, you must submit an application by 27 July 2013.
