Entry requirements
Entry requirements vary between different part-time courses, depending on what level you are studying, and what subject you are studying. For the specific entry requirements for your course, please visit our online prospectus.
There may be specific requirements for courses in particular professional areas, and for these courses you are normally be expected to have relevant work experience as well as meeting the qualification requirements.
If you don't meet our formal entry requirements or if your qualification isn't listed, but you still feel you can demonstrate the ability to complete the course successfully, please contact us for an informal chat. We may still be able to admit you at our discretion.
Phone 0114 225 2167 or email directadmissions@shu.ac.uk
Your earlier study or work experience can sometimes count towards your qualification, so you can complete it in less time.
You may be exempt from parts of a course if you have successfully completed all or part of a recognised higher education course.
If you have worked for some time and your learning at work is relevant and at a suitable level for the course, it may be possible for this experience to count towards your qualification.
To find out whether you can gain credit for what you've already done, phone 0114 225 5555 and ask to speak to the student support representative for your course.
We usually expect applicants to be competent to the level of TOEFL 570 (paper-based tests) or 235+ (computer-based tests) or IELTS 6. Please check the specific requirements for any course that interests you by visiting our online prospectus.
All non-UK students can study English for free for two or four hours per week on our University English Scheme. If your English needs improving, you can take one or more of our intensive English courses at our TESOL centre before starting your course.
