How we support you

Although part-time study is incredibly rewarding, we understand that initially it can be daunting. Fitting your study around your work, family and social commitments can be challenging.

At Sheffield Hallam you always feel supported. You have a personal tutor you can approach with any queries about your course, and there's a whole range of support staff on hand to help.

You need to be able to concentrate on your studies, so we make sure it's easy for you to get help and information when you need it. Student and Learning Services is the first point of contact for a range of support services including careers advice, student advice and information drop in service, counselling and a multifaith chaplaincy.

Childcare

Our nursery on Collegiate Campus provides full and part-day care for children aged six months to five years.

Students' Union Advice Centre

A free, independent and confidential service staffed by trained advisers. You can go here for advice on benefits, accommodation, debt, immigration, equal opportunities and welfare - as well as academic issues.

Student health

An independent health service is provided by a local GP partnership at medical centres on City Campus and close to Collegiate Campus.

Disabled students' support

Our disabled student support team provide advice and guidance to potential and existing students about what support is available, including applying for Disabled Students' Allowances.

Catering

The catering team provides a wide range of restaurants, snack bars and deli bars. A wide choice of hot and cold food is available, including vegetarian, Halal, Fairtrade and healthy options, using fresh ingredients from local suppliers.

Sport Hallam

With Sport Hallam you can enjoy recreational and competitive sport and fitness activities throughout the year without breaking the bank. Three levels of membership mean you can pick the one that suits you best.

Simba Shahwe

'The staff are really supportive. You can phone them at any time, and they’re very prompt replying to emails. Sometimes the lecturers come to visit me at my work in Lincolnshire so I don’t have to travel to Sheffield'.

Simba Shahwe, MSc Advancing Physiotherapy student
