Fees and funding

Studying a postgraduate course is a big investment, so we offer a range of support to help you manage your finances.

Our Student Financial Support team can

  • provide specialist advice on the funding options available to you
  • help with any other financial queries

Course fees

Wherever possible, you can view the fee for a course in the online prospectus entry. The fee is subject to change and usually increases each year in line with inflation, so please check  with us before you apply.

If you're being sponsored by your employer, we will need a letter from them to confirm this. We will then invoice them directly, and they must pay the full fee when they receive our invoice.

If no course fees are listed or for more information about course fees please, use the contact details given in the online course entry.

Methods of payment

UK or EU postgraduate students that pay their own fees will be sent an invoice shortly after enrolling for the current academic year. You can pay your fees by instalments if your annual tuition fee is £200 or more. Any registration, residential or other fees are payable with the first instalment.

  • Postgraduate annual fees between £201 and £499 are paid by two instalments, due approximately 14 days from the date of invoice and 1 February.
  • Postgraduate annual fees of £500 and above are paid by four instalments, due approximately 14 days from the date of invoice, 1 December, 1 February and 1 April.

Full details of how you can pay are available from our Finance Department. We accept most methods of payment, for example cheques, cash, debit/credit cards and direct debits.

Being up to date with payments and clear of debts to the University is a necessary part of your enrolment. Our Finance Department can help you with information and advice on paying your fees. You can contact them by phone on 0114 225 3902/3913.

'The 10% saving really was a major factor when I was deciding to do a masters degree. I had to fund it myself, so it was helpful to get that much of a reduction.'
