We are in an exciting city
Young
Sheffield has two universities, 50,000 students, and a higher-than-average proportion of the population is aged 20–24 - so you can be sure the city is fully geared up with all of the things students need and enjoy.
Buzzing
Sheffield offers some of the best nights out in the country. There's a fantastic music scene and several large music venues including an arena which attracts all the biggest names. There's also loads of comedy, the largest theatre complex outside London, and plenty of galleries and museums.
Leafy
Sheffield is one of England's greenest cities, with 200 woodlands, parks and gardens. We've got the Victorian Botanical Gardens, the modern Winter Gardens in the city centre, and peaceful riverside walks. Plus, no other British city has part of a national park within its boundaries.
Sporting
As the first National City of Sport, Sheffield offers an outstanding choice of facilities, including the UK's largest athletics stadium, an Olympic-sized pool and Europe's largest artificial outdoor ski resort.
The right size
Sheffield is unique. Although it's the UK's fifth-biggest city, it's also compact. It has all the excitement of a major city but also the friendliness and sense of community of a small town. Most people who move here to study grow very attached to the city, and a third of our students choose to stay here after they complete their studies.
