Open days
What should I expect from an open day?
Both campuses will have a course exhibition area where you can talk to tutors and other students, plus formal talks about courses. There are tours throughout the day of the campuses, our self-catered accommodation and Sheffield city centre.
What about getting there and parking?
The train and bus stations are opposite City Campus, and there are several car parks close by. Disabled visitors can phone beforehand to arrange suitable parking. There is limited parking at Collegiate Campus, but at our open days we offer a free shuttle bus between our two campuses, leaving every 10 minutes.
Can I talk to current students?
There'll be students helping out all over the place - talk to them as much as possible! And at the talks and exhibition stands you can speak to students who are on the courses you're interested in.
Can I access support for disabled students?
If you need support (such as an interpreter or note-taker), or materials in a different format, please call our disabled student support team as soon as possible on 0114 225 3964 (phone and Minicom), or email disability-support@shu.ac.uk.
What if I get lost?
You won't get lost! We'll have loads of helpers in easy-to-spot Sheffield Hallam t-shirts all over our campuses, at the train station, and dotted around in between.
Student-led campus tours
We run student-led tours of both campuses every Wednesday. You'll get to see all the main areas of the campus plus an example of our student accommodation. Find out more and book your place.
Top tips for getting the most out of an open day
- Pre-register with us and we'll send you a booklet to help you prepare.
- Bring someone with you (it's OK to bring a parent!).
- Check out the various Facebook groups and look for other people coming to the same open day.
- Prioritise and plan your time carefully.
- Bring a list of questions and ask them all.
- Make sure you check out our Students' Union, the HUBS (City Campus).
- Try travelling to the open day the same way you'd come if you were a student.
