Materials lie at the heart of engineering design and manufacturing. Materials science and engineering influences our lives each time we buy or use a new device, machine, or structure. Demand for new and improved materials never stops, and in an increasingly technological world, there are endless opportunities to refine and improve materials for the manufacturing industry.

Units of Study
This course builds on the core concepts of materials and manufacturing. You will study five units which build on your Advance Diploma course.

• Joining Technology and Non Destructive Testing
• Design and Management of Manufacturing Systems
• Degradation and Surface Engineering
• Advanced Investigatory Techniques
• Composite Materials Technology

Assessment
Every unit is assessed by both coursework (20%) and examination (80%). You must achieve an overall mark of 40% to pass a unit. The programme you will undertake here at Sheffield comprises 60 credits of work at UK degree level 6.

Entry Requirements
This course is only available for students who have completed their Advanced Diploma at TAR College in Malaysia after 1999.
