Recognised regionally and nationally for her contribution to business and commitment to helping young entrepreneurs achieve their potential, Julie Kenny has turned intruder detection equipment company Pyronix Ltd into a global brand with a turnover of more than £15 million.
Sheffield-born Julie, who left school at 16 and studied part-time to become a legal executive, was the first woman president of Rotherham Chamber of Commerce and currently holds a string of prestigious roles including director of the British Security Industry Association and Deputy Lieutenant of South Yorkshire. Her tireless community work includes motivational talks to students and schoolchildren, inspiring young women to consider work in manufacturing and mentoring young people to achieve business success.
She was recently appointed chair of the Small Business Council by Trade and Industry Secretary, Alan Johnson, and was awarded a CBE for services to industry in Yorkshire and Humberside in 2002.
