Renamed Sheffield City Polytechnic following mergers

During the late 1970s, the Polytechnic absorbed three teacher training colleges – Sheffield City College of Education and Totley-Thornbridge College of Education in 1976, then Lady Mabel College of Physical Education in 1977 – and was retitled Sheffield City Polytechnic.
