Having won the £45 million South Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority training contract in July 2005, nursing and midwifery provision was transferred to the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing – bringing with it about 200 staff and putting Sheffield Hallam at the forefront of healthcare provision in the UK.
The move followed the opening of the £13 million Robert Winston Building a year earlier, described by the Royal College of Nursing as a 'beacon for the future of nursing and midwifery training'.
