Activities and support for students
We offer a number of activities, taster sessions and resources designed to give prospective students of all ages a realistic insight into what it's like to study here – and in higher education generally. We also provide support for students from a diverse range of backgrounds to ensure higher education is accessible to people with different life experiences and perspectives.

The Languages Film SchoolA three-day non-residential summer school for year 10 languages pupils held each July. |

What? After participating in interactive languages and film workshops, students record and edit a three minute film in either French, Spanish or German. There is an awards event in September attended by teachers, parents and participants, where the finished films are screened and judged. This summer school is designed to act as a preparation tool for AS and A level languages study and is supported by industry professionals and staff from academic departments in the University. When? Y10 Mentoring SchemeOur year 10 mentoring scheme aims to raise aspirations, improve attitudes towards higher education and improve motivation and self-esteem. |

What? The scheme is targeted at students from groups which are underrepresented in higher education. Parliament Week

more information... What? A programme of activity for a range of ages as part of National Parliament Week, held in November each year. Activity is aimed at increasing understanding of the workings of Parliament and offer access to Parliamentary figures to engage young people in Politics. When? Parliament Week 2013 runs from 15–21 November. More information regarding the activity available will be added to this site shortly. This type of activity will also be available throughout the year dependent on availability so please let us know if you are interested in exploring what we can offer at other times. Where? Most activities are offered on campus at Sheffield Hallam during Parliament Week, but we offer ad-hoc sessions both on campus and in schools and colleges throughout the year. Subjects covered?
