Campus tours
Student led campus tours
Times and types of tours
Every Wednesday at
- 11am – City and Collegiate
- 12.30pm – Accommodation
- 2pm – City and Collegiate
How to book
You must book at least two days before the tour you wish to attend. If no bookings are received for a specific tour, the tour will be cancelled. Please book early for tours taking place during school holidays as these tend to book up fast.
To book your place on a campus and/or accommodation tour please call 0114 225 4777 or use the online booking form. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
We advise you to visit the campus at which your course would be taught. If you aren't sure which campus you need please check the course information for the relevant location on our online prospectus, or call 0114 225 4777.
Content of tour
Tours will leave promptly at the specified times. You will be met by a student ambassador wearing a campus tour t-shirt in the main reception of either City or Collegiate Campus. Look out for the banner stand at the student-led campus tour meeting point.
| Tour | Location | Meeting point |
| City and accommodation tour | City Campus | Reception, main entrance |
| Collegiate Campus tour | Collegiate Campus | Learning Centre |
Please arrive at least five minutes before your tour starts as tours leave promptly. Unfortunately we may not be able to accommodate those who arrive late onto a tour, in these circumstances you may be offered an alternative self guided tour. Self-guided tours are available to print from this webpage.
On arrival you will be given a welcome pack containing course, finance, and student services information, and a parent's guide.
The campus tour will include all of the main areas of the campus, including the learning centre, gym, students union, catering outlets, student and learning services, lecture theatres and classrooms. Please be aware that not all courses have specific areas to teach in but use the general university learning spaces (i.e. classrooms, lecture theatres).
The tour will not be course specific – if you wish to speak to someone regarding your course, we would advise you to attend an open day which has an extended subject-based programme.
Your student guide will tell you about each area and what their own personal experiences are. Please feel free to take this opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
On the accommodation tour you will shown around either the marketing suite, launderette and common room of the Trigon or Victoria Halls* accommodation complex. On the route there and back the ambassador will point out the location of other accommodation complexes and the accommodation office.
* We must stress that both the Trigon and Victoria Halls accommodation complexes are just two of many different complexes that are available and are chosen purely because of their proximity to the University. If you'd like to find out more about the other examples and prices of accommodation available, please visit our accommodation pages.
Self-guided tours
If you're unable to attend an open day or student led campus tour, we do offer self-guided tours which you can download and print below.
Parking / how to get there
Please note there is no University parking available on site, however, there are plenty of car parks within the city centre. There are also various park and ride options within the city. If you are coming by train the station is directly opposite our City Campus.
For Collegiate Campus, we recommend you park in the city centre and catch a bus.
For more information and for a route planner, please see the information on how to find us.
