How you learn
First you develop your entrepreneurial capabilities, recognising your creative potential and resourcefulness in order to translate ideas into actions. Next you study key business concepts such as accessing finance, creating a marketing plan and undertaking customer research.
Finally, you undertake an applied research project focusing on your own business idea, helped by a Sheffield Hallam coach and a mentor from an external organisation.

Course leaders and tutors
Research Fellow and lecturer at the Department of Management and Sheffield Business School.
Throughout, you apply your learning to your business idea. We are also an ENACTUS partner, which allows you to explore further social enterprise projects.
During the course you will attend a number of industry visits to successful entrepreneurial firms, social enterprises and business start-up support organisations.
Networking is fundamental to being a successful. You will have access to experts in our networks, your own adviser and mentor, and business support agencies in the region.
You will be allocated a dedicated workspace area in our on-campus business incubation lab - a great environment in which to network with other student and graduate entrepreneurs.
You will be given the opportunity to explore different potential financing networks including crowdfunding initiatives for your proposed new business venture, whether commercial or a social enterprise.
There are a host of networking events across Sheffield City Region for you to explore. We are also an ENACTUS partner and through this network you can explore further social enterprise opportunities.
Entering or being nominated for business competitions and awards is a great way to network, raise investment and promote your new business. We provide the support you need to make the most of these opportunities.
We host two annual awards: the Hallam Enterprise Awards and the Sheffield Universities Enterprise Award which we sponsor in collaboration with the University of Sheffield. We also work closely with regional partners in support of the Duke of York Young Entrepreneur Award and the Y-Accelerator business Award. As a Santander partner university, we also support the Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Awards.

Where will I study?
You study at City Campus through a structured mix of online lessons and face-to-face teaching with access to digital and online resources to support your learning.
City Campus is located in the heart of Sheffield, within minutes of the train and bus stations.

You need a 2.2 honours degree or equivalent.
Overseas applicants also need IELTS score of 6.5 with 6.0 in all skills or equivalent.
The ability to work as a team and have a passion for entrepreneurship is required. This will be assessed via a written personal statement and a phone conversation if appropriate. Applicants with non-standard entry requirements and /or relevant experience will be considered on an individual basis.

Fees and funding
Our tuition fee for UK students starting full-time study in 2021/22 is £10,190 for the course.
