If you hold the British Psychological Society (BPS) Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) this course will support you along the path to becoming a chartered sport and exercise psychologist.

How you learn

The Developing Professional Practice module offers you the opportunity to enter the sector of your choice to develop understanding of the context of sport and exercise psychology practice.
It may be possible to study your research project overseas if it satisfies the module aims and learning outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to undertake the University's Leadership Award. The intention is that this will enrich and develop your competitiveness in the job market and advance high-level employability-related transferable attributes that support your transition into the sport profession or the wider career sector.

Our graduates are ideally positioned to progress to Stage 2 of the QSEP and work towards becoming a registered sport and exercise psychologist. Previous graduates of this course have gone on to work for

This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society.

You study at Collegiate Campus through a structured mix of online lessons and face-to-face teaching with access to digital and online resources to support your learning.

On this course you work with experienced applied practitioners and expert researchers in both sport and exercise psychology.

Find out about the Sports and Physical Activity subject area at Sheffield Hallam University.
A 2.1 or higher Honours degree in psychology, sport and exercise psychology, or completion of an appropriate postgraduate conversion course in psychology (that provides GBC from the BPS).
At least a 2.1 Honours degree in Sport Science/Exercise Science/Coaching or a psychology degree not recognised by the BPS.
Applicants will be expected to have studied at least 60 credits of sport or exercise psychology or psychology at first degree level.
If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills, or a recognised equivalent. If your level of English language is currently below IELTS 6.0 we recommend you consider an appropriate Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve the required level of English.
You may also be able to claim credit points which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete your qualification at Sheffield Hallam. Find out more
