Servicing Utopia in Education (SUiA): Critical considerations for social change through the accessible use and design of early years and primary education settings.

Part of the Connected Communities Festival 2016 (Futures and Utopias), this project used playful and creative arts-based approaches to explore why disability and non-binary genders are overlooked in the design and use of toilets in education settings. It looked at how we can work across academia, architectural/educational practice and community groups to understand and overcome this, and how digital/visual toolkits can support architects involved in the design of school buildings and education practitioners to re-think and re-imagine the design and role of accessible toilets within education settings.
