Refugee Family Reunion Clinic
The Refugee Family Reunion Clinic, based at Sheffield Hallam University's Collegiate Campus, was fully established in September 2018. Since our launch, we have supported over 200 family members from all over the world in making applications to join loved ones in the UK.
The Clinic trains undergraduate and postgraduate students to work alongside qualified OISC registered immigration and asylum specialists, helping refugees navigate the complex processes and procedures for making family reunification applications. Where the Clinic is unable to offer assistance, we refer clients to partners or other relevant organisations.
The Clinic was established in recognition of the fact that there were major gaps in legal advice and assistance following the withdrawal of Legal Aid that made access to essential immigration services impossible for large numbers of potential applicants.
The service offered by the Clinic is free of charge.
As a university-based law clinic, students undertake important work to assist clients under supervision of qualified staff.
