The students were set a challenging brief by Royal Mail, which tasked them with creating a campaign to increase direct mail by encouraging the top 150 UK brands and agencies to use the channel when targeting young people.
Students Rowan Hall, Priti Sharma, Natalia Wesniuk and James Coope travelled to London to compete against over 40 other entries from institutions across the UK and were one of three nominated for the finals of the competition.
Phil Rickets, panel member and Head of Business Development at Royal Mail, said: “I have been blown away by the standard of entries and confidence of the students during the live pitches. The array of creative ideas underpinned by sound strategic thinking from those that made the shortlist in particular is a credit to them and the University’s they’ve come from.”
John Hayes, Principal Lecturer and Course Leader for MA Digital Media Management commented that: “Having an outward looking curriculum on our course really helps to prepare strong industry ready graduates. This alongside other industry and networking opportunities on the course are incredibly important for professional development. I’m sure this will lead to many exciting opportunities in the future.”
Senior Lecturer and Module Leader Anne Doncaster, also said: “I am very proud of the ‘You Experience’ team from the Strategic Digital Marketing Module. They put together such a great and very professional campaign to pitch at the IDM Student Marketing Competition.”
