Department of the Natural and Built Environment Employers Fair
Thursday 24 July 2014
Every autumn our department hosts an exciting employer engagement event at the University.
This industry focused event is designed as an opportunity for employers across the whole range of our department's disciplines to analyse and discuss graduate opportunities and employability skills with all our students, irrespective of their year of study.
Our usual format consists of a panel debate on a topical theme featuring a range of employers and preceded by a key-note address from a guest speaker. This is followed by our employers fair itself, which attracts in the region of fifty leading firms plus professional bodies including The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, The Chartered Institute of Building and The Chartered Institute of Housing.
This year, 45 companies and 500 students were there to see Louise Brooke-Smith, the first President of RICS to attend our event, sharing her experiences of developing a career within the property and planning sectors in what is now a global industry. Louise is also an alumna of our university and had special praise for the quality of the professional education offered here in the department of natural and built environment.
'An excellent example of academia working proactively and successfully with the market place addressing the future needs of the land, property and construction industry.'
We are delighted that this event is supported by so many employers and we value the contribution that they make to the success of our department.
