Firth Park Academy
A group of second year business studies students ran workshops with year 10 pupils at Firth Park Academy.
After a meeting with the pupils' teacher, the group created a programme consisting of five sessions in which the pupils were asked to
- create a business
- outline the shop front
- design a logo
- formulate their mantra
- present their business idea to a panel of judges.
They were also involved in an additional CV writing session.
'Working at Firth Park School has really improved my confidence and opened my eyes to the world of teaching. I have learnt so much about the importance of teamwork and responsibility than I ever would sitting in a classroom.'
Dean Wharton, student
'This project has not only provided me with invaluable experience of teaching and working with young people, but it has also really improved my confidence. I developed lots of useful skills – particularly teamwork, problem solving, communication and adaptability – which will help boost my employability and be useful in my future career.'
