Fine art graduates Jonathan Drury and Katie Owens founded Sheffield-based Savvy Foods Ltd in October 2013. After achieving runner-up position in the University’s Enterprise Challenge competition, Jonathan developed a strong relationship with us by using Sheffield Business School expertise to help him develop his products.

The business has since been heavily involved with Sheffield Hallam University, providing projects for students that span a range of disciplines. They include

  • international consultancy projects, analysing the potential of entering the Chinese, German and Turkish markets
  • investigations into how Savvy Foods can benefit from social media channels
  • viral and featurette videos allowing the company to grab headlines and informatively demonstrate their product

Thanks to working with our students, Jonathan and Katie developed a range of concepts and ideas which wouldn’t have been possible otherwise due to time and resource constraints. The results will help the aspiring SME expand into new markets and exploit multiplatform marketing channels.
