The University Chancellor

The role of Chancellor is an honorary position which involves being the figurehead of the University. As well as presenting degrees and diplomas at awards ceremonies, the Chancellor's role is to promote the work and ambitions of the University, as its most public facing ambassador.

The duties of the Chancellor are

  • ceremonial - at graduations and receptions
  • pastoral - demonstrating an affection for and an interest in students and staff
  • scholarly - a commitment to the world of learning, teaching and culture
  • ambassadorial - representing Sheffield Hallam University at home and abroad
