onathan Crossley-Holland was the Executive Director of Sheffield City Council for 11 years, eight of which were spent in charge of education services and three in charge of children and young people's services.
He is widely credited as having helped transform Sheffield City Council, its services and its contribution to the regeneration of the city.
Sheffield's children's services was rated by Ofsted as being the best of any of the core cities and in the top 25 per cent of all 150 local authorities.
After a teaching career which began in the late 1970s, Jonathan moved to East Sussex County Council in 1982 as a professional assistant and then to Hertfordshire County Council in 1986 where he became the Deputy Director of Education.
He has a very varied and rich experience of different local authorities, of Government policy and its implementation and of the current children and young people's agenda.
Among his many board memberships, Jonathan is an education adviser to the BBC and has served on a variety of Government working parties and advisory groups. He is currently Director of Children's Services at Tribal Group working with Central government and local authorities on improving services for children and young people, including schools.
